The most awaited event for members of the public Saturday night was the tug-of-war final, which pitted the strongmen of Brunei versus the rest of the Borneo teams.

There was a huge turnout at Taman Sir Omar Ali Saifuddien in the capital to watch the All-Borneo Tug-of-War competition between four teams - G-16 of Jerudong, Sabah, Sarawak (Limbang), and Labuan.

The competition was held during the Grand Finale Celebration in conjunction with His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan Brunei Darussalam's 61st birthday.

The tug-of war event was organised by the Organising Committee for His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam's 61st birthday

Present to watch the final competition were His Majesty, Her Majesty Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hjh Saleha, Her Royal Highness Pengiran Isteri Azrinaz Mazhar and HRH Princess Hjh Masna.

The teams went all out for the challenge trophy which was donated by HRH Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office.

G-16 of Jerudong emerged as the overall winner in the competition. They were also declared the overall champion at a recent national-level tug-of-war meet.

G-16 of Jerudong and Sarawak took home $6,000 and $4,000 in prize money respectively while Sabah took $2,000 for beating Labuan to the third place.

His Majesty consented to present the prizes and trophies to the winners. - Borneo Bulletin (6th August 2007)
