His Majesty currently in Phnom Penh for 3-day state visit

His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam is now in Phnom Penh, Cambodia for a 3-day state visit. His Majesty’s special aircraft landed at Phnom Penh International Airport last night around 15 minutes to ten in the evening local time.

The Monarch’s arrival was greeted by the Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Royal Palace, His Excellency Samdech Chaufea Veang Kong Som Ol, as Minister-in-attendance. His Majesty was later introduced to Cambodian Cabinet Members and senior officials from the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces. Also at the airport were the Cambodian Ambassador to Brunei Darussalam, His Excellency Nan Sy; the Director of Protocol of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Cambodia, His Excellency Eat Seyla and Brunei Darussalam’s Ambassador to Cambodia, Her Excellency Pengiran Hajah Basmillah binti Pengiran Haji Abbas.

Throughout the visit in Phnom Penh, His Majesty will reside at the Raffles Hotel Le Royal. On arrival at the hotel, His Majesty was greeted by the Hotel’s General Manager, Mr. Riaz Mahmood. The visit is upon the invitation of His Majesty King Norodom Sihamoni, the King of Cambodia. This is His Majesty’s first state visit to Cambodia. (5th April 2007)
