His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam yesterday called on Muslims in particular in the sultanate, to be united and become as one, following the guidance of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh).

Delivering his Titah last night, marking the Prophet Muhammad's (pbuh) birthday, His Majesty said one of the leadership qualities as taught by the Prophet was brotherhood among Muslims irrespective of one's skin colour and race.

Speaking on the Maulud celebration, His Majesty said that we should be thankful to be able to celebrate the birth of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) again and this event will always be remembered till the end of time. It will continue to inspire us and the whole world.

His Majesty also urged the people to remember him (Prophet Muhammad) as the saviour of the world as well as change the world to make it safe and peaceful.

This is one of the contributions of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) that cannot be denied and should the Prophet Muhammad be amongst us today, the scenario would be different.

His Majesty further said that we should remember him (Prophet Muhammad PBUH) and learn from his leadership style that he (Prophet Muhammad PBUH) helped to rescue the 'Umat', and the brotherhood among the Muslim people.

Muslim communities in general, should follow this example. Then there would not be any dispute or quarrel amongst each other and their unity would be more secure. It would also ensure prosperity and progress.

"Why should not the Muslim community have such objectives?" His Majesty asked.

"If the Muslim community is stronger and prosperous, wouldn't it help them in contributing towards a happy and peaceful world?"

Muslim communities totalling more than one billion people should not be left out wandering without direction, but instead need proper qualities and they should be more pro-active in bringing the world out of suffering.

His Majesty called upon the Muslim community to strive towards building a better livelihood that was respected by all.

His Majesty added that we should follow the footsteps of the Prophet in developing further. He (Prophet Muhammad PBUH) developed individuals first and then the "Ummah" based on relevance to the world and the day of judgement.

His Majesty also said that as a Muslim, it was compulsory to carry out and practise the "Sunnah" or the teaching of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) unconditionally.

If we (Muslims) are able to do this then we are able to achieve the level of being the best community "Khairu Ummah" which is bestowed by Allah The Almighty.

His Majesty added that we didn't only contribute to the world financially but also in the form of prayers, sympathy, thoughts and commitment towards goodness.

The Monarch said that promoting good moral values was also a contribution to the world as it was a global issue that never ends.

His Majesty added that the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was sent to perfect noble behaviour.

In Brunei context, His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam said that the nation needed to be stern in maintaining its good values and shun away from the bad ones.
