Crown Prince meets with Chinese Leaders

His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office, yesterday met Chinese leaders at a closed door bilateral meeting at the Liyuan Resort Hotel.

The Crown Prince also met Chinese State Leader Mr Zeng Peiyan, Vice Premier.

His Royal Highness, who is accompanied by Prince Abdul Qawi, is in Nanning City to co-officiate the 3rd CAEXPO and the China-Asean Business Investment Summit today at the Nanning International Convention and Exhibition Centre. His Royal Highness.

Also at the meeting was Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia Haji Awang Abu Bakar bin Haji Apong, Minister of Communications, who is in Nanning to attend the China-Asean Port Development and Cooperation Forum to be held Oct 28-29 in conjunction with the 3rd China-Asean Expo.

HRH the Crown Prince thanked the Chinese government for the invitation to co-officiate the prestigious CAEXPO this year, and the honour given to Brunei to become the first Country of Honour.

HRH the Crown Prince also told the Chinese leaders that he was impressed with the fast development in Nanning. He said Nanning has become known to the people of Brunei, especially since the establishment of the CAEXPO.

HRH the Crown Prince also thanked the Chinese government for the kind hospitality extended to him, he being the representative for His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam.

This year marked a deliberate respect to the Sultanate which has been chosen as the Country of Honour, expecting to produce extensive showcase not only about business and investment opportunities but also displaying the socio-cultural characrteristics of the old empire.

Brunei has also been given the opportunity to implement several activities and programmes to promote the country this year. - Borneo Bulletin (28th Oct 2007)
