His Majesty fetes S'pore Premier Lee

His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and Her Majesty Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha hosted an official dinner for the visiting Prime Minister of Singapore Lee Hsien Loong and his spouse at Istana Nurul Iman last night.

Upon arrival at Istana Nurul Iman, Mr Lee and Madam Ho Ching were welcomed by His Majesty, Her Majesty and HRH Pengiran Isteri Azrinaz Mazhar.

Prior to the dinner, His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, Her Majesty Raja Isteri Pg Anak Hjh Saleha and HRH Pengiran Isteri Azrinaz Mazhar consented to an audience with the Singapore premier and his wife.

Also present were His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office, HRH Paduka Seri Pengiran Anak Isteri Pg Anak Sarah, HRH Prince Mohamed Bolkiah, Brunei Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Her Royal Highness Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Zariah and HRH Prince Hj Sufri Bolkiah.

Among the distinguished Singapore guests present were Mr George Yeo, Minister for Foreign Affairs and Mr Lim Hng Kiang Minister for Trade and Industry and Dr Ng Eng Hen Minister for Manpower and Second Minister for Defence.

A thanksgiving prayer was read by the State Mufti, Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awg Abd Aziz Juned shortly after the arrival of His Majesty the Sultan, Her Majesty Raja Isteri and HRH Pengiran Isteri Azrinaz Mazhar, Singapore Premier Lee Hsien Loong and his spouse.

Prime Minister Lee made a visit to Brunei in 2003, to further consolidate bilateral relations between Singapore and Brunei.

Yesterday mark a significant milestone in bilateral relations between Brunei Darussalam and Singapore when His Majesty and Mr Lee launched the new $20 polymer notes issued by the two countries. - Borneo Bulletin (28th June 2007)
