Royal congratulatory messages to India, Australia

His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam consented to send congratulatory messages to Dr A P J Abdul Kalam, President of the Republic of India and Dr Manmohan Singh, the Prime Minister of India on the occasion of the anniversary of the Proclamation of the Republic of India.

In his message, His Majesty expressed his deep appreciation with the warm and friendly relations and deep understanding between Brunei and India. His Majesty hopes that this would be maintained and enhanced in the future for the good of the two countries and peoples.

His Majesty also hopes that Dr Abdul Kalam would always remain in good health and happiness and for the people of India to always enjoy continued progress and prosperity.

At the same time, in a similar congratulatory message to Dr Manmohan Singh, His Majesty congratulated him and the government and people of India on the occasion of the Proclamation of the Republic of India.

His Majesty expressed his deep satisfaction with the warm and friendly relations between the two countries and expressed his wish that this would be maintained and enhanced in the future for the mutual benefit of the two countries and peoples.

His Majesty wished Dr Manmohan Singh his continued good health and happiness and prosperity for the people of India.

His Majesty also sent congratulatory messages to Major General Michael Jeffery, Governor of Australia, and Mr John Howard, Prime Minister of Australia on the occasion of Australia Day.

His Majesty expressed his satisfaction with the warm and friendly relations as well as strong cooperation between the two countries. His Majesty also expressed his wish that this would be maintained and strengthened in the future for the mutual benefit of the two countries and peoples.

His Majesty also wished Mr Howard his continued good health and happiness and prosperity for the people of Australia.

Meanwhile His Royal Highness Prince Mohamed Bolkiah, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, sent his congratulatory message to his Indian counterpart, Mr Pranab Mukherjee, Minister of External Affairs of the Republic of India on the occasion of the Republic Day of the Republic of India.

HRH expressed great pleasure in congratulating Mr Pranab Mukherjee and the government and people of India on the occasion. HRH also conveyed his appreciation to the Indian government's commitment to the region, and greatly valued the friendship and continuous partnership India has offered to Brunei.

HRH looked forward to seeing India and Brunei progress on bilateral relations and regional cooperation for many years to come.

HRH also sent a similar congratulatory message to Mr Alexander Downer, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Australia, the government and people of Australia on Australia Day.

HRH said it has been a great pleasure working with Mr Downer and appreciated the friendship and cooperation they share as close regional partners. HRH also sent his kindest regards and very best wishes to Australia for a most successful year ahead as chairman of APEC. (26th January 2007)
