Thousands joined in the mass thanksgiving prayers to mark the 'meluaran' (royal birth) of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang DiPertuan of Brunei Darussalam's grandson, Yang Teramat Mulia Pengiran Muda Abdul Muntaqim Ibni Duli Yang Teramat Mulia Paduka Seri Pengiran Muda Mahkota Pengiran Muda Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah yesterday evening at the Jame Asr Hassanil Bolkiah mosque in Kampong Kiarong.
Among the state dignitaries present were Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Cheteria Sahibun Najabah Pengiran Anak Haji Abdul Aziz, The Chief of The Royal Customs and Tradition, Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Lela Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Abdul Rahman, Minister of Education, Pehin Jawatan Luar Pekerma Raja Dato Seri Utama Dr. Ustaz Awang Haji Mohd Zain, Minister of Religious Affairs, Pehin Orang Kaya Setia Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Dr. Awang Haji Ahmad, Minister of Industry and Primary Resources, Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia Haji Awang Abu Bakar, Minister of Communications, Pehin Orang Kaya Johan Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Adanan, Minister of Home Affairs as well as other cabinet ministers.
Also present were foreign diplomats in the country.
The event began with a mass maghrib prayer led by Pehin Siraja Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Yahya, followed by 'Hajat' prayers led by Pehin Orang Kaya Paduka Seri Utama Dato Paduka Seri Setia Haji Awang Salim.
A Dikir proceeded after the 'hajat' prayers and a 'doa kesyukuran' recited by Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Aziz, State Mufti.
Towards the end, a mass Isyak prayer was performed led by Pehin Datu Imam Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Hamid. The event was organised by Brunei's state dignitaries.
Similar mass prayers and thanksgiving prayers was also held in all mosques and prayer halls in the country.
Yang Teramat Mulia Pengiran Muda Abdul Muntaqim, was born on March 17, 2007 to His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, The Crown Prince, and Her Royal Highness Paduka Seri Pg Anak Isteri Pg Anak Sarah.
