To assist entrepreneurs in exposing developments in the field of agricultural processing, handicraft, as well as to promote investment opportunities and agricultural business sectors, particularly in agri-business, an Agri-Food Festival will be launched today at Complex Harapan parking lot in Kuala Belait.

Hj Mohamad bin Hj Abd Rahman, Belait District Officer, will officially launch the event.

The Agri-Food Festival, held in conjunction with His Majesty's 61st birthday celebrations, will run until August 1.

The festival will feature bazaars and exhibitions of agriculture resources, food processing, departmental exhibitions and handicrafts.

The annual event is aimed at promoting locally made products in the district and to further encourage entrepreneurs to bring out their products among the community and to develop and increase agricultural products commercially.

The Agri-Food Festival is divided into six categories, namely processed food, processed machines, agricultural equipment and agricultural input products, instant food, landscape, decorative growth and plants, as well as handicrafts and agricultural products.

The best stalls will also be awarded based on management skills, creativity, quality, quantity, product type, control, maintenance and appearance.

To enliven the event, various activities will also be held such as colouring competitions, guessing agriculture products, quizzes and an exhibition of wildlife. - Borneo Bulletin (25th July 2007)
