China congratulates Brunei on 23rd National Day

The President of the People's Republic of China, Mr Hu Jintao sent a congratulatory message to His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam on the occasion of the 23rd National Day.

Mr Hu Jintao in his message highlighted the friendly relationship and growing scope of cooperation between the two countries.

In the message, China's President extended his warmest congratulations and best wishes to His Majesty, and to His Majesty's Government and people of Brunei Darussalam.

"In the past 23 years since independence, Brunei Darussalam scored remarkable achievements in economic and social development and made positive contribution to regional peace, stability and development," the message read.

"Mr Hu Jinato is confident that, under the outstanding leadership of His Majesty, Brunei Darussalam, the beautiful and abundant country, will embrace a much better future.

"China and Brunei Darussalam are amicable and friendly neighbours. The relations between China and Brunei have been enjoying smooth development and the scope of cooperation has been expanding."

Mr Hu Jintao also expressed his wish to work closely with His Majesty to push the bilateral relations to a new height.

The Foreign Minister of the People's Republic of China, Mr Li Zhaoxing also sent his congratulatory message to His Royal Highness Prince Mohamed Bolkiah, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

Mr Li Zhaoxing in his message extended his warmest congratulations and best wishes to HRH.

The message further stated: "With the concerted efforts from both sides, the relations between China and Brunei Darussalam have been enjoying smooth development.

"The celebration of the 15th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Brunei Darussalam last year further enhanced the bilateral exchanges and cooperation in various fields."

Mr Li Zhaoxing also expressed his wish to work closely with HRH Prince Mohamed to further push forward the friendly relations between the two countries. (25th February 2007)
