Princess launches healthy kids contest

Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Rashidah Sa'adatul Bolkiah consented to launch the Healthy Children Contest for Brunei-Muara District at the ICC yesterday. Also present was HRH Princess Hajah Majeedah Nuurul Bulqiah.

Welcoming remarks were given by Datin Hjh Masni binti Haji Mohd Ali, co-chairperson of the event organised by the Women's Institute.

Zawanah Nazihah binti Haji Ramlee won in category A for children aged six to nine months with a score of 99 per cent. Coming in a close second was Izzudyn bin Zulaini with a score of 98 per cent, followed by Muhammad Danish Danial Wathia bin Armanshah with 96 per cent.

Category B for children aged nine to 12 months was won by Hanna Mira binti Edzwan Zukri with a score of 98 per cent. In 2nd place was Mohd Asyraf Ramadhane bin Mashairol Hamdey with 97.5 per cent and Nurul Aimy Syakirah binti Roshirmy who scored 97.4 per cent was in third place.

In category C for children aged 12 to 18 months, the winner was Azmina Nurul Halimah binti Abd Haliim with a score of 100 per cent, followed by Muhammad Darwsy bin Hamdilah with a score 99.9 per cent and Muhammad Bazly Ayman bin Ahmad Zamri with 99.8 per cent.

Category D for children 18 to 24 months was won by Adriyanan Batrisyia binti Abd Mulyamin with a score of 97 per cent, second was Ulfa Wafeeqah binti Samle with 94 per cent and Nurul Alya Amalia was third with 93 per cent.

In category E for twins aged between 12 and 24 months, the winners were Muhammad Afiq Nurizzudin and Muhamad Aniq Nurizzudin. While Md Darwish Hassanal Rifaie won in category F for those born on July 15, 2006.

Dk Rosimah bte Pg Hj Ahmad, the mother of eight-month-old Zawana Nazihah, the winner in category A, said the secret to her daughter's health is breast-feeding and eating healthy food.

While 31-year-old Hjh Azlina Bte Amit from Kg Lambak Kanan, the mother of the winner in category C, Azmina Nurul Halimah, said she made sure that she breastfed her child in the first six months. The mother also gives her baby nutritious food, especially fruits. Hjh Azlina follows the doctor's advice too. - Borneo Bulletin (25th August 2007)
