Royalty at Cleanliness & Landscape Competition

Her Majesty Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hjh Saleha and HRH Pengiran Isteri Azrinaz Mazhar consented to attend the 2007 Cleanliness and Landscape Competition at ICC, yesterday.

Also present at the event were HRH Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Anak Hjh Zariah, HRH Princess Hjh Rashidah Sa'adatul Bolkiah, HRH Princess Hjh Amal Umi Kalthum Al-Islam and YAM Pengiran Bini Hjh Faizah.

The royal entourage was greeted on arrival by the co-chairman of the event. The event began with a recital of the surah al-fatihah followed by welcoming remarks from Dyg Hjh Marhani Binti Abdul Latif.

She said, "This year's competition has received an encouraging response from all layers of society such as private homes, commercial buildings, primary and secondary schools, as well as Kg Ayer villages."

Ten categories are contested this year with over 30 private homes and housing schemes on land and 13 private homes in Kg Ayer, 50 primary schools on land and 10 primary schools in Kg Ayer, 16 secondary schools and colleges.

This year has seen a big involvement from villages in the village category on land and Kg Ayer, which shows positive development and progress towards public awareness on cleanliness and environment for a healthy lifestyle.

After delivering a titah, Her Majesty launched the event followed by a spontaneous flower arrangement contest.

Winners in the spontaneous flower arrangement contest were Datin Hjh Naimah bte Hj Razali in first place followed by Pg Datin Paduka Hjh Mariam bte Pg Hj Metarsat and Mdm M L Suparat Devakul of the Royal Thai Embassy. Her Majesty also consented to present prizes to winners in the Cleanliness and Landscape contest 2007.

Poh Eng Guan from Jalan Kota Batu won first place in landscape for private homes on land, Pg Masle bin Pg Hj Abd Hamid from Kg Perpindahan Lambak Kanan won in landscape for private homes in housing scheme on land.

Jalidin bin Haji Ismail from Kg Burong Pinggai Ayer won in landscape for private homes in Kg Ayer, while Hjh Aming@ Hjh Zaitonah binti Randah won landscape for private homes at housing scheme in Kg Ayer.

Kg Rimba won the landscape and cleanliness of village surroundings on land while Kg Burung Pinggai Ayer won the landscape and cleanliness of village surroundings in Kg Ayer.

Sekolah Menengah Sayyidina Hasan won the landscape and cleanliness of surroundings among secondary schools, Sekolah Rendah Pengkalan Tentera Laut Muara won the landscape and cleanliness of surroundings for primary schools on land and Sekolah Rendah Tanjong Kindana won the landscape and cleanliness of surroundings for primary schools in Kg Ayer.

TIBA Koperasi Association Petrol Station won the landscape and cleanliness of surroundings among petrol stations.

Before Her Majesty and the royal entourage viewed an exhibition on photography and decorative plants, Her Majesty launched the exhibition.
