Belait District is finally ready to greet His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan Negara Brunei Darussalam this morning for the get-together with the people at Taman Jubilee Recreational Park Jalan Maulana.
This is the district's grandest event and is expected to attract over tens of thousands of people from remote areas in the district and also neighbouring states.
The event is the only opportunity for the population and residents throughout the district to meet and greet the ruler personally in conjunction with His Majesty's 61st birthday celebration.
During the get-together, 2,050 people will put on a spectacular show this morning with the theme "Nostalgia Seni Klasik Silam". In addition, different organisations, mukims and village consultative councils, as well as associations, will put on exhibitions to showcase their products and accomplishments in the district.
Several roads will be closed to mark the event and police are advising road users to abide by the road signs and instructions from the traffic police. Members of the public are advised to come early and park their vehicles at the former BSP housing area, at Simpang 144 Jalan Mualana by entering Jalan Panglima and Jalan Nakhoda Ragam.
Belait District is the centre of the oil and gas industry in Brunei Darussalam and has a population of around 70,000 people.
