More than 50 penghulus and village heads from the Brunei-Muara District yesterday received Korban meat from His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and the royal family to be distributed to some 2,157 eligible recipients in the district.
The meat was distributed by the guest of honour, Brunei-Muara District Officer Dato Paduka Awang Hj Md Yussop bin Bakar. The event began with the recital of surah al-Faithah and doa selamat read by Awang Hj Puteh, the Village Head of Kg Dato Gandi.
Following a mass takbir led by the guest of honour, the Assistant Brunei-Muara District Officer, Hj Haris bin Othman, delivered a speech.
The meat will be distributed to 231 people in Mukim Sungai Kebun, 99 in Mukim Burong Pingai Ayer, 96 in Mukim Peramu, 86 in Mukim Tamoi, 57 in Mukim Saba, 66 in Mukim Sungai Kedayan, 63 in Mukim Lumapas, 211 in Mukim Kota Batu, 168 in Mukim Pengkalan Batu, 140 in Mukim Sengkurong, 73 in Mukim Kilanas, 68 in Mukim Serasa, 120 in Mukim Mentiri, 228 in Mukim Gadong A, 102 in Mukim Gadong B, 142 in Mukim Berakas A and 207 in Mukim Berakas B.
