His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam yesterday afternoon consented to present state medals to 223 people.
Also attending the medal investiture were His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office, and His Royal Highness Prince Haji Abdul Azim.
The ceremony, which was held in conjunction with His Majesty's 61st birthday celebrations, took place at Singgahsana Indera Kencana of Istana Nurul Iman. Amongst the recipients were senior government officers and uniformed personnel from various ministries and government departments, as well as those from the private sector.
The first 40 recipients were endowed with "Darjah Seri Paduka Mahkota Brunei Yang Amat Mulia Darjah Ketiga - SMB" (The Most Honourable Order of Seri Paduka Mahkota Brunei - Third Class). Amongst the recipients were Awang Haji Abdul Aziz bin Orang Kaya Maharaja Lela Haji Yusof, Pengiran Mohd Shah bin Pengiran Hj Ahmad, 265 Leftenan Colonel (U) Awang Shahril Anwar bin Ma'awiah, Awang Effandi bin Haji Salleh, Awang Poh Eng Hong, Awang Soh Lai Huat, and Superintendent of Police Pengiran Datin Mariam binti Pengiran Haji Othman.
His Majesty then consented to confer "Darjah Seri Ugama Islam Negara Brunei Yang Amat Bersinar Darjah Keempat - SUB" (The Most Eminent Order of Islam - Fourth Class) to only two recipients from the Ministry of Religious Affairs, Awang Haji Abdul Aziz bin Haji Akop and Awang Haji Madzneh bin Haji Md Noor.
This was followed by the presentation of "Darjah Setia Negara Brunei Yang Amat Bahagia Darjah Keempat - PSB" (The Most Blessed Order of Setia Negara Brunei - Fourth Class). Amongst the 177 recipients were Superintendent of Police Awang Md Faisal Al-Sufri bin Hj Adinin, 440 Major (U) Pengiran Haji Jufry bin Pengiran Hj Jaludin, Awang Hj Haini bin Hj Hashim, Awang Haji Abdul Aziz bin Hj Mohd Hassan, Awang Suhilee bin Hj Abd Majid, Dr (Mr) Chua Hock Beng.
There were four recipients for "Darjah Seri Ugama Islam Negara Brunei Yang Amat Bersinar Darjah Kelima - PUB" (The Most Eminent Order of Islam - Fifth Class), Awang Haji Murshid bin Matari from the Prime Minister's Office, and Awang Haji Amit bin Haji Mudin, Awang Abdullah bin Ali @ Ahmad, and Awang Haji Rusli bin Haji Ahmad from the Ministry of Religious Affairs.
