Green Jewel fetes His Majesty

Thousands of people from the Temburong District converged at the Temburong Community Complex in Bangar to grab the chance to greet His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam at the first 'Bersama Rakyat' or Royal get-together held in conjunction with His Majesty's 61st birthday.

Accompanying His Majesty were HRH Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office, HRH Prince Mohamed Bolkiah, HRH Prince Hj Sufri Bolkiah, HRH Prince Abdul Azim, HRH Prince Abdul Malik and HRH Prince Abd Mateen.

Upon arrival at the Bangar Helipad, His Majesty and the royal entourage were greeted by Pehin Orang Kaya Johan Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Awg Haji Adanan, Minister of Home Affairs.

The National Anthem was played to signify His Majesty's arrival followed by three chants of "Daulat Kebawah Duli Tuan Patik".

A speech was delivered by the Acting Temburong District Officer, Awg Haji Mohd Abdoh bin Dato Seri Setia Hj Abd Salam.

This was followed by the final of the National Tug of War competition to vie for the Duli Yang Teramat Mulia Paduka Seri Pengiran Perdana Wazir Sahibul Himmah Wal-Waqar Pengiran Muda Mohamed Bolkiah Challenge Trophy.

After the match, His Majesty viewed a performance by more than 500 students from Sekolah Menengah Sultan Hassan Bangar in a dance routine themed 3C or 'Cergas', 'Cerdas' and 'Ceria/Cemerlang'.

In the grand finale, all participants gathered in unison with the accompaniment of students from Sekolah Menengah Sultan Hassan in a choir performance.

After the performance, His Majesty consented to present the Challenge Trophy to the winners of the National Tug of War competition.

In Category A, JKR emerged as the champion while G16 - representing the Brunei-Muara District - came top in Category B.

In Category C, 'Pembangunan Remaja' came first.

Towards the end of the event, His Majesty and the royal entourage consented to receive greetings from the people of Temburong and viewed the 3KC gallery or 'Galeri Cemerlang Kampungku' showcasing the three villages of Kg Belais and Buda Buda, Kg Amo and Kg Sibut.

His Majesty also consented to receive a 'pesambah' from all the villages.
