Thirty babies were born last Sunday, making it the highest number of babies born on His Majesty the Sultan's birthday so far.
In RIPAS Hospital, the newborns comprised 13 boys and 11 girls, while one baby was born in Tutong District, one in Temburong District, and four in Belait District.
Last year, 11 babies were delivered in Ripas Hospital and seven in Suri Seri Begawan Hospital on July 15.
Yesterday saw a thanksgiving ceremony for the July 15 babies at Ripas Hospital.
Present as the guest of honour was Datin Paduka Hjh Salmah bte Haji Hanafiah, wife of Minister of Home Affairs Pehin Orang Kaya Johan Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Adanan.
The event began with a zikir recital, followed by the sprinkling of scented flowers on the newborns.
Later, the guest of honour presented hampers to the mothers before Brunei Islamic Trust Fund (TAIB) representative Dayang Hjh Noraizan binti Haji Abdul Wahab presented gifts to the babies.
In Tutong, Dayang Hjh Rashidah binti Haji Md Zain, wife of Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Home Affairs, presented a souvenir to newborn Mohammad Aqiel Waie, second child to Md Murah bin Md Zain and Mazinah binti Abu Bakar.
Nur Aqilah binti Abdullah delivered the first July 15 baby at 12.09 am, while Rosnani Haji Jaludin delivered the last at 11.58 pm.
