The wet weather conditions yesterday did not dampen the spirit of locals and foreigners, who took the opportunity to greet Their Majesties and other members of the royal family on the second day of a three-day royal open house at Istana Nurul Iman.
Some 29,358 people - 16,500 in the morning and 12,858 in the afternoon - attended the Istana Open House yesterday.
As is the norm, male well-wishers greet His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and other male members of the royal family, while the female well-wishers greet Her Majesty Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha and other female members of the royal family.
Also in attendance in the male section of the open house yesterday were HRH Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office, HRH Prince Mohamed Bolkiah, HRH Prince Haji Sufri Bolkiah, HRH Prince Abdul Malik and other members of the royal family.
Meanwhile at the women's section were Her Majesty Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha, HRH Paduka Seri Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Anak Sarah, HRH Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Zariah, YAM Pengiran Bini Hajah Faizah, HRH Princess Hajah Rashidah, HRH Princess Muta-Wakkilah, HRH Princess Hafizah Sururul Bulqiah, HRH Princess Hjh Amal Umi Kalthum Al-Islam, HRH Princess Hjh Norehsani and grandchildren of Their Majesties.
Yesterday's Hari Raya Open House at the palace that began Sunday was equally joyful and full of warmth as well-wishers comprising uniformed personnel, as well as members of the public and foreigners who are currently either working or visiting the country were seen.
Uniformed personnel include the Royal Brunei Police Force, Departments of Prisons, Fire and Rescue Services, Immigration Department, Royal Customs & Excise Department, as well as uniformed organisations, namely the Scouts and Red Crescent Association.
