Crown Prince sees '100 years of development'
By Azlan Othman

It was a historic moment yesterday when His Royal Highness Prince Hj Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office officiated an exhibition commemorating 100 years (1906-2006) of development of Brunei town.

Besides highlighting the sequence of developments of Bandar Seri Begawan through designs and architectures beginning in 1906 till today and the history of Sultans' rule over the past 100 years, the two-week exhibition at the Bumiputera Commercial complex held in the capital, portrays the involvement of government and private sector in the development of the capital.

The aim of organising the exhibition is to bring about knowledge and creativity among Bruneians such as planners, architects and designers to lay out a concept, design and development of the town in an innovative way for the benefit of the inhabitants.

Creative Bruneians are needed in realising the vision to uplift the status and profile of Bandar Seri Begawan in line with the 2005-2025 strategic planning of the Ministry of Home Affairs.

Besides the exhibition, the Municipal Department and other government agencies have organised several events like religious talks held in November 2006, 'Dzikir', bazaar sale, colouring competition, walkathon, song writing and radio quiz. (15th February 2007)
