Full-dress rehearsal in Tutong

Tutong District is all geared up for His Majesty's 61st birthday celebrations and the Get-together ceremony with His Majesty and residents of the district on July 19 at the open area of Community Hall.

It was picture perfect for the second full-dress rehearsal as some 640 students took to the field to fine-tune performances.

Pehin Orang Kaya Johan Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Adanan bin Begawan Pehin Siraja Khatib Dato Seri Setia Haji Mohd Yusof, the Minister of Home Affairs was on hand to observe yesterday morning's rehearsal.

Also present were Pehin Orang Kaya Dewa Pahlawan Dato Paduka Haji Awang Dani bin Haji Ibrahim, the Deputy Minister of Home Affairs with YAM Pengiran Lela Cheteria Sahibun Najabah Pengiran Anak Hj Abdul Aziz, Haji Jamain Bin Momin, the Acting Tutong District officer and other government officials.

Some 11,160 people from all walks of life in Tutong District are participating in this year's celebration.

Famed for its tradition and culture, Tutong District will be presenting colourful traditional dances from its many ethnic communities.

The highlights include dances like "Zapin Ya Salam", Joget Medley, Dikir Puteri and the Grand Finale "Rahmat".

Representatives from the villages and mukim along with residents in Tutong District will be on hand to greet His Majesty. - Borneo Bulletin (12th July 2007)
