The Knowledge Convention (Majlis Ilmu 2007), a key event in celebrating His Majesty's 61st birthday, will be held July 24 to Aug 19 at the International Convention Centre.
Some 1,200 participants from institutions and society are expected to attend the convention organised by the Prime Minister's Office. The "aqidah-driven" community is one of its activities.
This was announced at a press conference at Darul Ifta State Mufti Office attended by Awang Haji Mahmud bin Haji Mohd Daud , Deputy Permanent Secretary at the Prime Minister's office; Dato Paduka Awg Haji Ahmad Bukhari, Director of Administration, State Mufti's Office, Committee Secretary and Head Secretariat for the convention; and Awg Hj Mahrub, Acting Director of Information.
The convention will be a platform to obtain and disseminate knowledge, information and experience on matters in living in a society and the country. It is also a symbol of the wise leadership of His Majesty in developing the nation based on knowledge and with blessings from Allah the Almighty.
An exhibition will be held for 27 days and will feature exhibitions on the His Majesty's leadership, the continuity in religion (aqidah), Islamic education up to the establishment of the Sultan Sharif Ali Islamic University and Religious Teachers College University, youth development, exhibitions from the Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Islamic Exhibition Hall, Balai Kenangan Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar Ali Saifuddien, on a aqidah society, a khurafat and bid'ah exhibition, astronomy and fossil exhibition and stalls.
There will be seminars and exhibitions for participants and members of the public, information and knowledge to strengthen nationhood and sovereignty by Aqidah (iman and ubudiyyah) with focus on developing a safe society, enhancing a blessed economy and national education with the objective of the afterlife.
This year's theme is "Aqidah Kukuh Membawa Berkat " or a strong aqidah brings blessings.
A seminar on July 25-26 will be led by a panel of experts, and 10 presentations will be delivered. The panel will give justification / verification through academic and realistic experience that a nation driven by aqidah is a nation that is safe, competitively strong and has quality in its development.
A keynote address will be delivered by State Mufti Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Aziz bin Juned.
Topics to be delivered during the seminar are:
"Aqidah Ahli Sunnah Wa al- Jama'ah : asas kemantpaan masyarakat cemerlang" by Pehin Jawatan Luar Pekerma Raja Dato Seri Utama Dr Ustaz Haji Mohd Zain Haji Serudin, Minister of Religious Affairs.
"Membentuk Belia Beriman untuk Menjadi Generasi Cemerlang" to be delivered by Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, Pehin Dato Major General (R) Hj Mohammad bin Hj Daud. "Muamalat Islam Tuntutan Aqidah Yang Mantap" by Dr Zainuddin Bin Jaafar, "Peranan Wanita Dalam Pengukuhan Aqidah" by Professor Datin Sri Dr Hjh Mizan Adiliah Ahmad Ibrahim, "Memperkasa Perkhidmatan Awam dengan Al-Ihsan" by Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin, Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs.
