His Majesty at Isra' Mi'raj celebrations

His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam consented to attend the Isra' Mi'raj National Celebration yesterday at the Plenary Hall, ICC Berakas, where the Monarch also delivered a Titah.

Accompanying His Majesty to the event were HRH Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, The Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office, HRH Prince Mohamed Bolkiah, HRH Prince Abdul Malik and HRH Prince Abdul Mateen.

Upon arrival His Majesty was greeted by the Minister of Religious Affairs Pehin Jawatan Luar Pekerma Raja Dato Seri Utama Dr Ustaz Haji Awg Mohd Zain .

The event began with a recital of the Al-Quran read by Dyg Norfaezah bte Haji Emran, winner of the adult category of the National Al-Quran Recital Competition with translation of the verses read by Dyg Norhafizah bte Haji Hamidon.

This was followed by welcoming remarks by the Minister of Religious Affairs.

A special speech in conjunction with the Isra' Mi'raj National Level Celebrations by Dato Paduka Seri Setia Dr Ustaz Haji Awang Besar, Mosque Affairs Officer was also delivered during the event.

The highlight of the event was announcement of Exemplary Religious Schools Awards.

PAP Amal Umi Kalthum Al-Islam Religious School in Kg Mulaut winning the Exemplary Religious School Award in Administration received $3000, a trophy and a certificate.

PAP Muta-Wakkilah Hayatul Bolkiah Religious School from Kg Serusop won the Exemplary Religious School Award in Academics and received $3000, a trophy and certificate, while Penanjong Religious School won the Exemplary Religious School Award for Activities and received $3000, a trophy and certificate.

His Majesty consented to present prizes for the winners.

His Majesty also later toured an exhibition in conjunction with the event and consented to receive a 'Pesambah'. - Borneo Bulletin (12th August 2007)
