His Majesty's B'day song writing winners

'Rahmat' written by Fathan Hj Anuar grabbed the first prize in His Majesty's Birthday Song Writing Competition last Saturday night at Dewan Raya RTB.

Present at the competition was Pehin Dato Paduka Awg Hj Adanan bin Pehin Dato Hj Mohd Yussof, Minister of Home Affairs.

Fathan Hj Anuar, a local singer and musician who graduated from University of Central England (Birmingham, UK), had won several RTB competitions including Bintang RTB 1987 and 1988, Kugiran 1989, Popular Song Writing Competition 1989 and Simfoni Tanah Air 2004.

'Teraju Negara' written by Rosman Masri won the second place. Rosman got involved in music in late 1980s and since then had participated in various competitions including Bintang Remaja, Bintang RTB and Bintang Jubli Perak.

'Semarak Hari Keputeraan' written by Awg Hj Md Samsi took the third place. The song writer had appeared in several RTB programmes such as M.O.U 'Alai Krathong' and 'Sukmairama'.

The winner, Fathan Hj Anuar, took home $5,000 with a trophy and a certificate of participation, whereas Rosman and Awg Hj Md Samsi received $3,000 and $2,000 respectively together with a trophy and a certificate of participation.

Azizul Serbini with his song 'Puja Usia Sanjungan Kasih' won the Best Lyrics and took home $2,000. - Borneo Bulletin (8th May 2006)
