Residents of Mukim Sengkurong expressed their desire to see commercial areas in Sengkurong and Jerudong decorated with streetlights, arches and banners so as not to be left out in the upcoming celebrations to mark His Majesty's 60th birthday.

Entrepreneur Zainuddin Dato Seri Paduka Haji Marsal from Jalan Jerudong said he recently appealed to relevant authorities on behalf of the mukim's residents to have the area embellished with decorative lights, banners and congratulatory arches as the monarch's birthday is a special event for the nation.

He said being a mukim with a population of 30,000, the area should be flooded with colourful decorations and its evenings livened up with a display of neon lights, especially in major commercial areas.

Other residents added that Mukim Sengkurong "should not be left out in the birthday bash". - Borneo Bulletin (8th July 2006)
