Thousands of people gathered at Taman Haji Sir Muda Omar Ali Saifuddien on Sunday to witness Indonesian Akademi Fantasia (AF) 2 singing sensation Tia demonstrate her vocal strength.

Entitled 'Konsert Malam Serumpun Seri 60,' the event allowed Tia to set aside any lingering doubts of her singing ability.

The Indonesian songstress belted out a total of nine songs, opening the concert with her rendition of 'Stand Up For Love.'

Her next song - Lanksana Raja Di Laut - was a repeat number of the Saturday night performance, during which she performed for His Majesty and the royal entourage at the same venue.

Spirits were high as several fans answered Tia's call to sing and dance on stage, for which they were subsequently rewarded with various prizes.

Tia serenaded the audience with songs like 'To Love Somebody,' 'Bang Toyib,' 'Jujur,' 'Kenangan Terindah' and 'Bring Me to Life.'

Later she performed 'I Will Survive' with local singer Amirul, who she believes possesses amazing vocal strength and variation.

For her closing number 'Kampong Ayer,' Tia invited Malam Serumpun Seri 60 Executive Director Majid Alias to sing with her.

The night also saw performances by local singers Sri Nazrina, Joe M, Fakhrul Razi, Amirul, Pei Pei and Voon Voon, as well as various traditional and contemporary dance acts by Lively Dancers and Sher'Warna Dancers.

Meanwhile, local comedienne Hajah Kalsum and members of Pelawak 69 left the crowd in stitches with several comical sketches that were meant to deliver positive social messages.

The event was emceed by Shahrizan Masri and Norbaizura Andy. - Borneo Bulletin (8th Aug 2006)
