60 join Anduki RC boat race

More than 60 entries, including those from Bintulu, Kapit, Lawas, Miri and Sibu, took part in the two-day remote control boat race at Anduki Recreational Park held in conjunction with His Majesty's 60th birthday celebrations.

Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Pehin Dato Paduka Awg Haji Dani bin Hj Ibrahim presented prizes to the winners of the fun sports competition, water lights display, the remote control boat competition, the most beautiful boat and Championship Keputeraan category.

The chief guest watched the final round of the remote control boat race in categories B, A and F. There were also cultural performances and a cooking demonstration.

Chairman Hj Abd Shawal bin Yaman from the Department of Electrical Services said the remote control boat races started on Saturday for the preliminary levels. The finals were held yesterday.

Other events on Saturday evening included a water lights display held for the second time this year. Eleven entries were recorded in three categories. The public were also treated to a musical performance or Acara Hiburan Musikarama called 'Gambus' on Saturday evening.

Yesterday's events included fun sports competition, tug of war, and gunny sack race. - Borneo Bulletin (7th August 2006)
