Pehin Dato Paduka Awang Haji Abu Bakar bin Haji Apong in his welcoming address said the improvement and progress in the field of education is one of the main aims of establishing Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah.

In association with the aims, His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam had placed serious concern on the education plans under Yayasan since the early stages of its establishment.

Understanding the importance of education, Yayasan had involved itself in offering private education services within the country as a contribution to the education progress as well as the development of human resources in the country, he added.

Recalling the history of the school, the administrative board chairman of Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah school said the establishment of the nursery in 1998 was followed by the start of primary school in 2000, and then a leap to secondary education in 2005.

The 53 students in the secondary one and two are temporarily placed in one of the blocks at the Yayasan primary school.

Pehin Dato Paduka Awang Haji Abu Bakar said the facilities of the new secondary school building include 42 classes, 12 science labs, three computer rooms, language lab, lecture room and a library. - Borneo Bulletin (6th Apr 2006)
