His Majesty sends Independence Day greetings to Bush

His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam has consented to send a congratulatory message to Mr George W. Bush, President of the United States of America, on the occasion of the Independence Day of the US.

His Majesty expressed his confidence that the two countries had much to look forward to in further strengthening the bilateral relations in all fields of mutual interest and common desire to promote peace and stability for the mutual benefit of the two countries and people.

His Majesty hoped that the US President would remain in good health and happiness, and for the people of the United States to enjoy continued progress and prosperity.

In a separate message, HRH Prince Mohamed Bolkiah, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, sent a congratulatory message to Condoleezza Rice, US Secretary of State.

His Royal Highness said, "I have great pleasure in sending my warmest congratulations and best wishes to you and to the government and people of the United States of America on your Independence Day. I much appreciate the friendship our countries share and look forward to continuing our work together, both bilaterally and regionally, to enhance much valued relationship". - Borneo Bulletin (4th July 2006)
