Royal messages to Myanmar

His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam consented to send a congratulatory message to General Soe Win, the Prime Minister of the Union of Myanmar, and Senior General Than Shwe, Chairman of the State Peace and Development Council of the Union of Myanmar on the occasion of the Independence Day Anniversary of the Union of Myanmar.

In his message, His Majesty expressed his satisfaction with the warm and friendly relations and deep understanding that had so long been established between Brunei Darussalam and the Union of Myanmar. His Majesty hoped that this would be maintained and enhanced in the future for the good of the two countries and peoples.

His Majesty also hoped that General Soe Win, Prime Minister of the Union of Myanmar would always remain in good health and happiness and for the people of the Union of Myanmar to always enjoy continued progress and prosperity.

At the same time, in a similar congratulatory message to Senior General Than Shwe, Chairman of the State Peace and Development Council of the Union of Myanmar, His Majesty congratulated Senior General Than Shwe and the Government and People of the Union of Myanmar on the occasion of the Independence Day Anniversary of the Union of Myanmar.

His Majesty expressed his satisfaction with the warm and friendly relations that have been long established between the two countries. His Majesty also expressed his wish that this would be maintained and enhanced in the future for the mutual benefit of the two countries and peoples. His Majesty also wished Senior General Than Shwe his continued good health and happiness and for the prosperity of the people of the Union of Myanmar.

Meanwhile in a congratulatory message from His Royal Highness Prince Mohamed Bolkiah, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, to Major General Nyan Win, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Union of Myanmar, His Royal Highness congratulated Major General Nyan Win and the Government and People of Myanmar on their Independence Day.

HRH expressed his satisfaction in working with Major General Nyan Win during the past year, and further expressed his appreciation for the warm and friendly relations between the two counties.
