Chinese New Year will be a memorable one for the Chinese community this year as His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam has consented to attend a festive gathering at the ICC this Monday, February 6.

The event will be led by Pehin Goh King Chin, Pehin Lau Ah Kok, Pehin Dato Onn Siew Siong with cooperation of Mr Ang Swee Chuan, Chairman of Chung Hwa Middle School Board of Directors, and Mr Robert Koh Hoe Kiat, Chairman of the Chinese Chamber of Commerce.

His Majesty's presence will show the care of the ruler for the people, regardless of their race and religion.

This symbiosis is very much appreciated by the Chinese community and further acknowledges that the country is a prosperous and multicultural country under the leadership of His Majesty.

The Chinese community has expressed their gratitude to His Majesty and the Royal Family for consenting to attend the gathering.

Some 1500 people are expected to attend the event.

Other guests will include Pehin-Pehin Cheterias, Ministers and Deputy Ministers, Permanent Secretaries, foreign diplomats and business associates. - Borneo Bulletin (4th Feb 2006)
