The chairman for the 'Malam Serumpun Seri 60', Pengiran Haji Abu Bakar bin Pengiran Haji Othman, said performers from Malaysia, Indonesia and Brunei Darussalam will come together to entertain the royal entourage, guests and members of the public during a memorable night.

Big names in the entertainment business, Adam and Farah of Malaysia Akademi Fantasia 2 and Tia of Indonesia Akademi Fantasia 2, will be the star performers on the centre stage on Saturday night.

The performances of Farah and Adam will be sponsored by Power Root and facilitated by Kingston Beverage and Creamery Sdn Bhd.

Emceed by Shahrizan Masri and Baizura Andy, the event will see local stars such as Hans Anwar, Faiz, Rina Zarina, Fakhrul Razi, Milin and Sri Nazrina belting out various hits. They will be joined by child prodigy stars Sabrina, Chung Voon Voon and Pei Pei for a special presentation.

The cultural dance group of Wilayah Lampong Indonesia will join local dance groups, namely Sher'Warna Dancers, Lively Dancers and those from the Fire and Rescue Department and the Prisons Department, to choreograph cultural and contemporary dance routines to make the night a memorable one.

The stage show is only one of four main events lined up for the night starting at 7.30pm.

The Taman and its vicinity are expected to be filled with hordes of people to witness event after event this Saturday night as the nation rejoices in His Majesty's 60th birthday celebrations.

The sky above the capital will be sporadically lit by dazzling fireworks. Apart from the fireworks display, the streets of Bandar Seri Begawan would also be the location for a float procession.

At the park, the final of the Asean Tug-of-War Competition is also expected to take place.

These festivities are organised by the Executive Council Committee for His Majesty's 60th Birthday Celebration in the Brunei-Muara District. - Borneo Bulletin (4th August 2006)
