Strong support from the public was apparent in the Tutong District as they came in big numbers to witness the Information Department's Penterama Tuesday evening that aired messages of community and family excellence.
Held at the celebration stage of Bukit Bendera, the event was attended by Tutong District Officer Awang Abdul Mutalib bin Haji Mohd Idris as the guest of honour.
Also present was Assistant Tutong District Officer Haji Haris bin Othman.
The Acting Director of Information Department, Haji Amer Hamzah Pehin Dato Haji Zakaria led his officers and staff in attending the event.
Facilitated by Ozie Studio Production and Star Asia Event Company, emcees for the night DJ Zureen and Firdaus, aired positive messages on community and family excellence which are vital ingredients for national development and progress.
The event was meant to be a platform in delivering government information as well as to educate and entertain the public in the effort towards nation-building and enhancing awareness of the population.
The mini-theatre performance entitled 'Kasihnya Ibu' demonstrated how the love of a mother for her children may prevent her offspring from getting involved with social-ills such as drug consumption and trafficking; religious deviation, and loafing.
The audience was entertained to various songs belted out by local artistes such as Fakrul Razi, Feez, Sri Nazrina, Kartini, Ishamuddin and Big.
The singers were backed by Starlite Band while Sher'Warna Dancers provided traditional and contemporary dance routines.
The comic group Pelawak 69 managed to keep the audience in stitches throughout their performance while injecting positive values to strengthen the family institution.
The objective of the Penterama was to deliver information and current issues of the government as well as promoting positive community traits and values so people will be more committed and responsive towards national progress.
