Brunei flag-raising ceremony in Tutong

Hundreds of people, including secondary school students, scouts and members of the public, took a part during the National Flag-raising ceremony in the Tutong District last Saturday, in conjunction with His Majesty's 60th birthday celebrations this year.

The event took place at Tutong Memorial Arch area, and was graced by the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Finance, Dato Paduka Awg Hj Matassan bin Momin,

The ceremony began with Tutong District Officer handing over the Brunei flag to the guest of honour, who in turn passed the flag to members of the Royal Brunei Police Force for hoisting.

Students from the Muda Hashim and Sufri Bolkiah Secondary Schools then sang the national anthem, followed by the "Berkibarlah Bendera" song.

The ceremony ended with by the presentation of national flags to all penghulus in the Tutong district. - Borneo Bulletin (3rd July 2006)
