Her Royal Highness describes corruption as internal enemy

Her Royal Highness Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Anak Sarah said that corruption is an enemy from within. Although corruption is regarded as a small matter, but if not brought under control, can be a paralysing source for a nation. Her Royal Highness reminded that corruption is not only forbidden in Islam but also tarnish a nation’s self-respect, the dignity of its public service or an individual’s identity. Her Royal Highness made the remarks at the opening of the Anti-Corruption Bureau’s Second Season Drama, “Code 486”, Sunday. Her Royal Highness urged the country’s youth to focus on their future, saying that in this ever challenging world, the young should embrace and absorb patriotic values and avoid anti-social activities. One way of doing this is by indulging in beneficial activities with a commitment to enhance one’s self-value to serve the community, religion and the nation.

On arrival at the Jerudong Park Amphitheatre, Her Royal Highness was greeted by members of the committee led by the Director of the Anti-Corruption Bureau, Datin Paduka Hajah Intan. Her Royal Highness consented to launch the tv programme and to receive a pesambah (gift).

The production of the drama, Code 486, is deemed in line with the need of member countries commitment to the United Nations Convention Against Corruption. Brunei Darussalam joined the Convention in 2003 in Mexico that called on every member countries to establish prevention policies that involved the community. (3rd Apr 2006)
