His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, Sunday consented to take part in a Charity Walk hosted by the Royal Brunei Police Force. The event was also to mark the 85th Anniversary of the Formation of the Royal Brunei Police Force. His Majesty was welcomed at the Jerudong Park Country Club by the Commissioner of Police, Pehin Dato Paduka Seri Zainuddin bin Jalani and members of the organising committee.
With His Majesty were His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and His Royal Highness Prince Abdul Malek.
Prior to the Charity Walk, the participants performed a warming up and stretching exercise in which His Majesty, His Royal Highness the Crown Prince and His Royal Highness Prince Abdul Malek enthusiastically joined in. His Majesty later declared the start of the walk which began at around 8 am and lasted for about an hour.
Several Ministers, Deputy Ministers, Permanent Secretaries, senior officers and invited guests from ministries and the private sector also took part. The about 6 kilometre walk for men covered a route around the Jerudong Park Country Club. The women walked a distance of around 3 kilometres. The participation of His Majesty in the morning walk reflects the Monarch’s interest in the health and fitness of his rakyat. Such an event not only helps to promote health, agility and flexibility of the body and mind but also instill awareness among the public on the importance of daily exercise in life. Asides benefiting from physical exercises, the walk was also to raise money for funds in the country.
