Tutong Town was buzzing with activities as His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam made a working visit to Mukim Pekan Tutong, Tutong District, yesterday morning.
Arriving in a helicopter, His Majesty landed on the field of Kampong Penanjong Primary School and was greeted by Pehin Orang Kaya Johan Pahlawan Dato Paduka Awang Haji Adanan, Minister of Home Affairs as well as other senior government officials.
The first stop for His Majesty was the building of Persatuan Pemuda Pemudi Kampong Penanjong Tutong, which is one of the oldest youth organisations in the country.
Just a few steps away, His Majesty walked to the home of Kampong Penanjong village head, Haji Ahmad Juriah Bin Hj Ibrahim. Along the way, hundreds of villagers lined the street to greet the caring monarch who took time to mingle with the well-wishers.
The ruler proceeded to the beach erosion control project of Kampong Penanjong, Tutong where His Majesty took a special interest in the work to put a stop to erosion at the beach.
His Majesty continued the trip by touring one of the secondary schools in Tutong, Muda Hashim Secondary School. His Majesty took a closer look at the physical education curriculum at the multipurpose hall. Students lined the corridor to welcome His Majesty.
The caring monarch's next stop was Pengiran Muda Mahkota Pengiran Muda Hj Al-Muhtadee Billah Tutong Hospital which included a tour of the Pharmacy, Male Medical Ward and Isolation Ward. His Majesty also took the opportunity to speak with a number of patients.
The second school that His Majesty visited was Sufri Bolkiah Secondary School. The monarch looked at the facilities such as the gym and library. His Majesty also viewed the school's extra curriculum activities displayed in an exhibition.
His Majesty then proceeded to the home of Awang Hj Kepli Bin Abang Sepawi, Ketua Kampong Panchor, Tutong. After a brief stop, His Majesty visited the Kompleks Tamu dan Pasar Baru in Kampong Serambangun, Tutong District.
Taking a closer look at the uniformed personnel of Tutong District, His Majesty visited the Police Station and Tutong Fire Station.
Just a few feet across the road, His Majesty toured the Persatuan PAKATAN Petrol Station, Tutong. The ruler then went to the newest addition of shopping complex in Tutong District, OG complex building.
The more than five-hour working visit to Mukim Pekan Tutong concluded with a tour of the Tutong Sport Complex.
