Hundreds of people, mainly powerboat race enthusiasts, gathered at the Ports Department jetty in Belait Town yesterday morning for the district's Water Sports Festival that was held in conjunction with His Majesty the Sultan's 60th birthday celebration.

Present as the event's chief guest was the Chairman of Kuala Belait and Seria Municipal Board, Pg Hj Mohd Ali Pg Hj Othman.

There were more than 100 participants in 20 different categories - among which were the 10-round SST 60 hp open race, ten laps of Jet Ski Runabout 800 stock class race, 10-person open paddling race and open F2 race.

The festival continued through the afternoon with winners receiving their prizes towards the end from the chief guest.
