His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam yesterday attended a 'Bertahlil' ceremony for His Majesty's late parents at the Royal Mausoleum in Jln Kubah Makam Diraja in Jln Tutong.
Also in attendance were the Crown Prince His Royal Highness Prince Hj Al-Muhtadee Billah, HRH Prince Mohamed Bolkiah, HRH Prince Hj Sufri Bolkiah, HRH Prince Abdul Malik and HRH Prince Abdul Mateen.
His Majesty and the other members of the Royal Family were greeted on arrival by the Minister of Religious Affairs, Pehin Dato Seri Utama Dr. Ustaz Awg Hj Mohd Zain. The recitation of 'Surah Al-Fatihah' signalled the start of the congregation followed by the reading of 'Tahlil' and 'Doa' by the State Mufti.
His Majesty later sprinkled 'Ayeng Asah-Asahan' or scented water on the tombs of His Majesty's late parents, Al-Marhum Sultan Hj Omar Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien who passed away on September 7, 1986 and Al-Marhumah Duli Raja Isteri Pg Anak Damit who passed away on September 13, 1979.
Later, the other members of the royal family sprinkled the scented water on the tombs.
Also present at the bertahlil ceremony were Pengiran-Pengiran Cheterias, cabinet ministers, deputy ministers and local dignitaries.
