A dress rehearsal was held last night for the eagerly-awaited Brunei International Tattoo (BIT) 2006 which kicks off its series of shows tonight.
Deputy Defence Minister, Pehin Datu Singamanteri Col (Rtd) Dato Seri Paduka Hj Mohamad Yasmin Hj Umar, was the chief guest at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium in Berakas last night where the military bands and performers from Brunei Darussalam and 12 other countries held their dress rehearsal.
Also present to witness the dress rehearsal was Commander of RBAF, Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General Dato Paduka Seri Hj Awg Halbi Hj Md Yussof.
His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam has consented to grace tonight's opening show of the BIT 2006 where admission is by invitation only.
In order to give people, who were unable to buy tickets, a chance to watch the extravaganza, the organising committee has added an extra show. Initially, the BIT shows were scheduled for three days - July 29 (by invitation only), 30 and 31. An extra show will take place on August 1.
Apart from ensuring that the BIT 2006 runs smoothly, last night's dress rehearsal also saw the attendance in the stand of RBAF and MINDEF personnel and their families as well as BIT 2006 workers, including civilians and their families.
Carrying the theme, "Together We Celebrate His Majesty's 60th Birthday", the tattoo will showcase military bands and cultural performances from Brunei Darussalam, Australia, China, Indonesia, Jordan, Malaysia, Oman, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Pakistan and United Kingdom.
