The government of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and the government of the Republic of Iceland have decided to establish diplomatic relations with effect from April 27, 2006.
The signing of a Joint Communique took place at the office of the Permanent Mission of Brunei to the United Nations in New York.
The government of His Majesty was represented by Mr. Hj Emran B. Bahar, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Brunei to the United Nations in New York whilst the government of the Republic of Iceland was represented by Mr. Hjalmar W. Hannesson, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Iceland.
