Sultan attends Regimental Dinner

His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, Supreme Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces, last night consented to attend a Regimental Dinner at the Officers' Mess in Bolkiah Garrison in conjunction with the 45th Anniversary of Royal Brunei Armed Forces which falls on May 31, 2006.

Accompanying His Majesty was His Royal Highness Prince General Hj Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince.

Welcoming His Majesty and HRH the Crown Prince at the Officers' Mess in Bolkiah Garrison was the Deputy Minister of Defence, Pehin Datu Singamanteri Colonel (B) Dato Paduka Hj Mohammad Yasmin bin Hj Umar and also the Commander of RBAF, Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General Dato Paduka Seri Hj Awang Halbi bin Hj Md Yussof.

The national anthem was played shortly after His Majesty's arrival and a group photo taken with senior officers of the RBAF and Ministry of Defence.

The Regimental Dinner is a customary function hosted by different units of RBAF to fete important guests while maintaining traditions associated with the event.

Last night His Majesty, Supreme Commander of RBAF, and HRH Prince General Hj Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince attended the function as Royal Guests.

After the dinner, His Majesty and the Crown Prince consented to orchestrate the RBAF band. Before concluding the event, both His Majesty and the Crown Prince consented to sign the customary royal parchment. - Borneo Bulletin (28th May 2006)
