Joint effort for grand royal b'day celebration

His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office, yesterday morning consented to attend the third meeting of the National Committee on His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam's 60th Birthday Celebration at the Empire Hotel and Country Club in Jerudong.

Upon arrival, His Royal Highness was greeted by Pehin Dato Awang Haji Adanan bin Begawan Pehin Siraja Khatib Dato Seri Setia Haji Mohd Yussof, Minister of Home Affairs, in his capacity as the chairperson of National Committee on His Majesty's 60th Birthday Celebration and other members of the committee.

His Royal Highness in a sabda said, "All thanks be to Allah the Almighty for granting His blessings and protection so that Brunei Darussalam may continue to enjoy peace and prosperity and enable us together to celebrate the 60th Birthday Celebration of His Majesty this July."

His Royal Highness, who is the patron of the National Committee, is also confident that with the spirit of determination and cooperation shown by members of the national committee, every event lined up either at the national or district level will proceed in an organised, proper and totally successful manner. And the joy of the celebration will not only be felt by the citizens and residents of this country but also by tourists visiting the country.

The Crown Prince said, "His Majesty has consented to the appointment of three new members from amongst the members of the private sector and prominent members of the public into the National Committee. These appointments will certainly enhance further the cooperation and integration between the National Committee, the private sector and the public to work together in their efforts to plan and organise this year's event for the celebration."

In concluding the Sabda, His Royal Highness expressed appreciation to all committee members including government officers and staff, the private sector and all the citizens and residents for their devotion and contribution from the beginning in working together to ensure the success and vibrancy of this year's celebration.

The unanimity and unity illustrated is proof of the undivided loyalty of the citizens and residents of the country to His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, added HRH the Crown Prince.

The agenda of the meeting included discussions about the proposed format of performances and programmes on His Majesty's 60th Birthday Get-Together ceremony in all four districts -- Brunei Muara, Belait, Tutong and Temburong.

The committee members also heard reports on the preparation of thanksgiving ceremonies, Royal Concert presentation, International Halal Products/ Food Expo and "Malam Rumpun Seri 60". - Borneo Bulletin (28th Mar 2006)
