His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam yesterday consented to present state medals to 344 people at the Singgahsana Indera Buana, Istana Nurul Iman, in conjunction with the monarch's 60th birthday.
Also present at the ceremony were His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office, HRH Prince Abdul Azim, HRH Prince Abdul Malik and HRH Prince Abdul Mateen.
Among the recipients were senior government officials, uniform personnel from ministries and government agencies and members of the private sector.
First to be awarded was John Brian Wilkinson, the sole recipient of The Most Distinguished Order of Paduka Seri Laila Jasa - 3rd Class (Darjah Paduka Seri Laila Jasa Yang Amat Berjasa Darjah Ketiga - SLJ) medal.
Next was the presentation of The Most Honourable Order of Seri Paduka Mahkota Brunei - 3rd Class (Darjah Seri Paduka Mahkota Brunei Yang Amat Mulia Darjah Ketiga - SMB) to 58 recipients - Pg Abd Haris Pg Hj Shabudin, Pg Dr Hidop Pg Hj Samsuddin, Pehin Hj Awg Abu Bakar POKUL Dato Paduka Hj Omar, Supt Awg Realis Hj Jais, Supt Pg Ishak Pg Mohamad, 253 Col (L) Awg Abd Aziz Mohd Tamit, 289 Major Awg Abd Latif Hj Matusin, Awg Chan Chong Huat, Dr Hj Muhd Hadi Muhd Melayong, Datin Hjh Zuriah Hj Ibrahim, 192 Major (Rtd) Pg Hjh Masnah Pg Hj Bahar, and Dr Hjh Hairuni Mohamed Ali Maricar.
Eight recipients - Pg Hj Mohd Tashim Pg Hj Hassan, Ustaz Awg Hj Abd Rajid Hj Mohd Salleh, Awg Hj Yahya Hj Ahmad, and Awg Hj Abd Kahar Hj Hussin - were awarded the medal for The Most Eminent Order of Islam - 4th Class (Darjah Ugama Islam Negara Brunei Yang Amat Bersinar Darjah Ke-empat - SUB).
Another 265 recipients received medals for The Most Blessed Order of Setia Negara Brunei - 4th Class (Darjah Setia Negara Brunei Yang Amat Bahagia Darjah Ke-empat - PSB). Among them were Prof Madya Dr Hj Bachamiya Abdul Hussainmiya, Pehin Penyurat Hj Awg Ahmad PJD Hj Md Yusof, Senior Inspector Eunos Doughty, Inspector Pek Chong Tong, Sgt Major 784 Hj Ahmad Hj Ludin, Staff Sgt 169 Abdullah Hj Md Salleh, Sgt 99 Hj Yusof Hj Ahmad, Awg Lim Hong Huat, Dr Awg Hj Abd Manaf Hj Metussin, and Awg Hj Abd Ghani Hj Metussin.
Concluding the list of recipients were 12 individuals who were awarded The Most Eminent Order of Islam Brunei - 5th Class (Darjah Seri Ugama Islam Negara Brunei Yang Amat Bersinar Darjah Kelima - PUB). Among them were Awg Mohamad Buang Omar, Awg Abd Karim Hj Daim, Awg Mohd Haris Raup, Dk Hjh Norasmawati Pg Hj Ahmad, Pg Hjh Siti Jauyah Pg Hj Mohd Yussof, Dyg Hjh Mahal @ Mahirah Hj Adol, and Dyg Hjh Zaliha Hj Ibrahim.
A doa selamat was read by the State Mufti to bless the ceremony as well as to mark the conclusion of the event.
