His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam has consented to send congratulatory messages to Dr APJ Abdul Kalam, President of the Republic of India, and Dr Manmohan Singh, Prime Minister of the Republic of India, on the occasion of the anniversary of the Proclamation of the Republic of India.
His Majesty expressed his satisfaction with the warm and friendly relations and deep understanding that had so long been established between Brunei Darussalam and the Republic of India. His Majesty hopes that this would be maintained and enhanced in the future for the good of the two countries and people.
His Majesty hopes that Dr APJ Abdul Kalam and Dr Manmohan Singh would remain in good health and happiness and for the people of the Republic of India to enjoy continued progress and prosperity.
Meanwhile, His Royal Highness Prince Mohamed Bolkiah, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, sent a congratulatory message to Rao Inderjit Singh, Minister of State for External Affairs of Republic of India.
His Royal Highness also said, "I would also like to offer my congratulations on your country's participation in the inaugural of East Asia Summit. I much appreciate your Government's commitment to having a partnership with our region and look forward to working closely with you to continue strengthening our valued partnership and cooperation."
Meanwhile, His Majesty consented to send congratulatory messages to Major-General Michael Jeffery, Governor-General of Australia, and John Howard, Prime Minister of Australia on the occasion of Australia Day.

His Royal Highness also offered his congratulations to Australia on its participation in the Inaugural East Asia Summit. "I greatly appreciate this commitment to our region and look forward to continuing to strengthen our relations bilaterally and as regional partners," His Royal Highness said.
