His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam has consented to send congratulatory messages to His Excellency Major-General Michael Jefferey, Governor-General of Australia and the Honourable John Howard, Prime Minister of Australia on the occasion of Australia Day.
In his message, His Majesty expresses his satisfaction with the warm and friendly relations and deep understanding that had so long been established between Brunei Darussalam and Australia. His Majesty hopes that this would be maintained and enhanced in the future for the good of the two countries and also the people of both nations. His Majesty also hopes that His Excellency Major-General Michael Jefferey, Governor-General of Australia, would always remain in good health and happiness and the people of Australia too will always enjoy continued progress and prosperity.
In a similar congratulatory message to the Honourable John Howard, Prime Minister of Australia, His Majesty congratulates His Excellency and the Government and People of Australia on the occasion of Australia Day. His Majesty expresses his satisfaction with the warm and friendly relations that have long been established between the two countries. His Majesty also expresses his wish that this will be maintained and enhanced in the future for the mutual benefit of the two countries and also the people of both nations. His Majesty also hopes that the Honourable John Howard, Prime Minister of Australia, will remain in good health and happiness and the people of Australia too will enjoy continued prosperity.

Abdul Kalam, President of the Republic of India and His Excellency Dr. Manmohan Singh, Prime Minister of the Republic of India on the occasion of the anniversary of the Proclamation of the Republic of India.

Meanwhile, His Royal Highness Prince Mohamed Bolkiah, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade has also sent a congratulatory message to His Excellency Rao Inderjit Singh, Minister of State for External Affairs of the Republic of India, on similar occasion.
In the message, His Royal Highness expresses congratulations to His Excellency and the Government and People of India on their Republic Day. His Royal Highness also expresses his congratulation on the Republic of India’s participation in the inaugural of the East Asia Summit. His Royal Highness also appreciates the Government of the Republic of India commitment to having a partnership with the region and look forward to working closely together to continue strengthening both countries value partnership and cooperation.
