Brunei, Saudi sign General Agreement

The government of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and the Government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia signed a General Agreement on Economic, Trade, Investment, Technical, Education, Cultural, Youth and Sports Cooperation yesterday.

Signing on behalf of the Government of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam was Pehin Orang Kaya Pekerma Dewa Dato Seri Paduka Lim Jock Seng, Second Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Brunei, while Dr Nizar bin Obaid Madani, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, signed on behalf of the Government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The General Agreement will enable both countries to further enhance bilateral cooperation in various fields such as economic, trade and cultural cooperation.

Prior to the signing ceremony, Pehin Dato Lim Jock Seng and Dr Nizar bin Obaid Madani held a meeting and discussed matters of bilateral interests. Both the meeting and signing ceremony took place at the International Convention Centre, Berakas. - Borneo Bulletin (23rd May 2006)
