710 more awarded state medals

More State Honorary medals were awarded yesterday to government personnel including uniformed staff, employees from the private sector, prominent businessmen and physically impaired subjects in a ceremony held at Istana Nurul Iman.

His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam has consented for His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office, to present the 710 medals as His Majesty's representative.

The ceremony began with the Meritorious Service Medals or "Pingat Jasa Kebaktian" (PJK) awarded to some 59 people.

This was followed by a presentation of the Medals for Service to the State or "Pingat Indah Kerja Baik" (PIKB) to 278 people, while 351 received the Long Service Medals or "Pingat Kerja Lama" (PKL).

Another 22 were presented with Medals for Long Service with the Police or "Pingat Kerja Lama Polis" (PKLP).

The presentation was held to mark His Majesty's 59th Birthday Anniversary.

It concluded with the reading of a 'doa selamat'.

Also present were Pengiran-Pengiran Cheterias, Cabinet Ministers, Members of Privy Councils, Pengiran-Pengiran Peranakan, Pehin-Pehin Manteris, Manteri-Manteri Pendalaman, Foreign Diplomats, Permanent Secretaries and heads of government departments. - Borneo Bulletin (23rd Feb 2006)
