Sultan attends mass prayers

His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam last night joined his subjects in performing thanksgiving, mass Maghrib and Isya' prayers and the reading of Surah Yasin to mark the country's 22nd National Day celebration.

The prayers were held at Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddien mosque in the capital. Also present were His Royal Highness Prince Hj Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince, HRH Prince Abdul Malik and HRH Prince Abdul Mateen. His Majesty and the royal entourage were greeted on arrival at the mosque by Minister of Religious Affairs, Pehin Dato Seri Utama Dr. Ustaz Hj Awg Mohd Zain, and other executive committee members.

The Maghrib prayer was led by Pehin Siraja Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Hj Awg Yahya while the reading of Surah Yasin was led by Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Hj Awg Badaruddin. The Isya' prayer was led by Pehin Datu Imam Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Hj Abdul Hamid.

The subjects and residents of the country will witness the climax of the celebration today involving a National Day parade at Taman Hj Sir Muda Omar Ali Saifuddien in the capital.
