His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam yesterday afternoon consented to receive in audience the visiting Vice President of the Supreme People's Court of China, Justice Jiang Xingchang and delegation to Brunei Darussalam, at the Istana Nurul Iman.
Justice Jiang Xingchang is leading a delegation that include Mr Han Yuanzheng, Deputy Director General, Department of Foreign Affairs, Supreme People's Court, Mr Chen Huajie, Vice-President of the Higher People's Court of Guangdong Province and Mr Zhou Feng, Deputy Director General, Supreme People's Court.
The Chinese delegation is returning a visit to the Brunei Darussalam Supreme Court, in an effort to strengthen friendship and cooperation between the Supreme Courts of the two countries. While in Brunei Darussalam the Chinese delegation will be taking a look at the Brunei legal and judicial system.
At the royal audience yesterday, Justice Jiang Xianchang and delegation were accompanied by the Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Brunei Darussalam, Ms Yang Yanyi.
Also present at the audience and accompanying the delegation was the Minister of Education, Pehin Dato Seri Setia Awg Hj Abdul Rahman bin Dato Setia Hj Mohamed Taib, and Chief Justice Dato Seri Paduka Mohammed Saied Mohammad.
The visiting delegation arrived in Brunei on Monday and will be in the Sultanate till November 23.
