Crown Prince and Her Royal Highness begin their separate programmes in Hanoi

His Royal Highness the Crown Prince and the Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Her Royal Highness Paduka Seri Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Anak Sarah, Tuesday began their separate programmes in Hanoi on the second day of their official visit to Vietnam.

His Royal Highness Prince General Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince; began his programme with a visit to the Special Forces Academy in Xuan Mai. Upon arrival, His Royal Highness was greeted by the Commander of the Special Forces, Major General Pham Huu Chinh, together with the Deputy Director of the Special Forces Academy, Senior Colonel Giap Van Thien. Major General Pham Huu Chinh delivered a welcoming remark while Senior Colonel Giap Van Thien briefed His Royal Highness on the activities of the academy. Also during the visit, His Royal Highness watched a demonstration on weapon drill by the trainees of the academy.

Her Royal Highness Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Anak Sarah began her programme with a courtesy call on the Vice-President of Vietnam’s Women Union, Madame Nguyen Phuong Minh, at the Vietnam’s Women Union Headquarters. After the meeting, Her Royal Highness went on to visit the Museum of Vietnamese Women.

In the afternoon, His Royal Highness the Crown Prince called on His Excellency President Tran Duc Luong at the Presidential Palace, and on the Prime Minister, His Excellency Phan Van Khai at the Government Office. During the courtesy calls on the President and the Prime Minister, His Royal Highness exchanged views on bilateral relations, especially on cooperation in trade, defence and education. His Royal Highness and Their Excellencies expressed their satisfaction with the progress of the bilateral cooperation between Brunei Darussalam and Vietnam. Both the President and the Prime Minister reiterated their appreciation for Brunei Darussalam’s role in Vietnam’s admission into ASEAN in 1995. (22nd Mar 2006)
