Royal birthday singing contest

The Consultative Council of Mukim Kianggeh (MPMK) together with Radio Harmoni Network, Radio Television Brunei (RTB) will be organising a singing contest in conjunction with the 60th birthday celebrations of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam.

The aim of the contest, entitled 'Malam Gemilang Keputeraan', is to uncover and promote local talents in singing. The finals of the contest will be held at Taman Jubli Perak on July 30, from 8pm onwards.

The contest is open to all citizens and permanent residents of the country and contest forms can be obtained from the reception counters of RTB Complex in Bandar.

Participants or groups of two to five singers must sing one song from the 'Dirgahayu 60 - Compilation of His Majesty's Birthday Songs' album produced by RTB.

Singers can be accompanied by backup dancers under their own expenses.

Contest forms must be returned to the reception counters of RTB Complex by 3.30pm on July 27.

The preliminary round will be held July 28, 8.30am at the RTB Complex in Bandar, where 15 finalists will be selected.

Finalists are required to attend stage rehearsals on July 30, at 9am at Taman Jubli Perak in Pusar Ulak.

According to the Permanent Chairman of MPMK cum Penghulu of Mukim Kianggeh, Haji Lutfi Haji Abd Halim, the contest is an activity of MPMK to enliven His Majesty's 60th birthday celebrations this year.
